All of us have a story to tell…

I came to counselling as a second career following a decade working in the creative industries as a writer and company director. From my teenage years studying journalism at university, my passion and curiosity for understanding the wonder and messiness of human life has never wavered.

About Ruth

My Background…

After studying for a degree in English and Journalism, my career began in the creative industries, working on Copywriting and Project Management for over a decade and working my way to Company Director. All of that was fascinating and helped me to understand a lot about how important people’s stories were and the difference that sharing these can make.

My Counselling Journey…

Losing my dad suddenly back in 2004 at the age of 18 left me personally struggling to deal with grief. Over the course of the last 15 years I have learnt and understood how powerful talking therapies can be to help release trauma, make sense of our experiences and connect to the deeper, truest version of ourselves.

Experiencing Counselling…

Many clients feel at their first therapy session that it is the only time they’ve ever had a safe and judgement free space to talk and really be seen and heard - that was my personal experience as well. The power of this connection is why I think counselling is so valuable and transformative.

What Training Have You Had?

I completed my training with the CPCAB (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) which is the only awarding body in Europe to specialise in the field of counselling. I practice within the BACP’s (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) Ethical Framework which ensures my clients are safe and receiving the highest quality of service I can offer.

My training is in Integrative Counselling which means I’m grounded in the Person Centered theory of counselling whilst also integrating CBT and Psychodynamic approaches, where it feels right for you, in my client work.
